Quick and accurate quality assurance for tube manufacturing

The AICON TubeInspect technology is an optical 3D measurement system that ensures the user can measure bent and freeform tubes quickly and accurately. Using highly advanced industrial photogrammetry technology, 16 high resolution CCD cameras allow this non-contact 3D measurement system to automatically extract tube contours and bending point locations in just seconds. This fully programmable system requires no mechanical fixtures or clamping devices and can provide user independent results and true 3D CAD comparisons. Hard data and visual feedback to the operator is both quick and effective.

By applying the essential principles of optical 3D digitizing in a ‘pre-calibrated’ measurement bed, TubeInspect also allows operators to reverse engineer complex bent tubes. Numerical push, bend, and rotate data can be calculated much faster than with conventional approaches and with greater accuracy and repeatability than can be accomplished with mechanical portable CMM arms, or gantry style CMM measurement systems. TubeInspect 3D measurement systems can measure complex and simple tubes of most materials and having diameters ranging from 1 mm to 200 mm, bend angles from 1o to 1800 as well as ‘bend in bend’

TubeInspect can also be integrated with your CNC benders to provide ‘real time’ production quality feedback to the CNC benders without the time loss and high capital costs typically associated with mechanical checking fixtures or conventional CMM measurements.

This highly advanced 3D measurement technology is suitable for all types of industrial tube manufacturing from flexible brake lines to large truck or heavy equipment exhaust piping, to rubber tubes and smaller diameter, intricate tubing such as those required for medical equipment, HVAC equipment such as residential and commercial furnaces, air conditioning units and consumer appliances. TubeInspect systems can also be used to measure tubes designed to carry hydraulic fluids, cooling liquids or fuels.
