3D Applications Specialist – Architecture, Civil, Construction
Job purpose:

By staying on top of state-of-the-art 3D technology and developing new workflows, we are able to provide our customers with a wide range of services and expertise that is invaluable to their success. The 3D Applications Specialist (Architecture, Civil, Construction) is a position that offers the opportunity for professional growth as the company continues to grow. The role is focused on delivery of 3D measurement, modelling and inspection solutions for architects, civil engineers, and construction contractors. We are looking for a pro-active, detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills that can adapt to working both independently and as part of a team as required. Duties and responsibilities:
- Operation of multiple 3D scanning technologies both in the office and in the field
- Creation of architectural type 2D and 3D CAD models from scan data using a variety of modelling methods and software packages
- Creation of BIM models for every LOD as required using 3D scan data as a base
- Demonstrated ability and confidence to communicate clearly and effectively with customers and professional suppliers in dealing with complex technical problems and solutions
- Work effectively both independently and in a team environment in order to meet deadlines
- Create detailed reports and documentation for research-based projects (SRED)
- Assist project managers on other job-related tasks as required
Qualifications:
- Minimum College Diploma in Architecture or Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent
- 1-4 years’ experience in a related field
- Strong 2D and 3D CAD capabilities
- Strong understanding of architectural/engineering drawings and models
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written) including essential technical vocabulary
- Detail oriented and well organized
- Safety oriented individual
- Experience in any or all the following 3D lidar scanners is considered an asset
- Leica: C10, P-series, RTC360
- Trimble X7
- Faro Focus
- Leica BLK2FLY or equivalent
- NavVis VLX or equivalent
- Leica BLK2GO or equivalent
- Experience in any or all the following software’s is considered an asset
- Autodesk Revit
- Leica Cyclone
- Autodesk AutoCAD
- Solidworks
- Autodesk Recap
- Microsoft Office
- Geomagic Design X
- Valid Ontario driver’s license
- Willingness to travel when required
Working conditions:
You will be required to regularly work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments ranging from a professional office environment to a construction site or a manufacturing shop floor. All required safety training and equipment will be provided by Applied Precision.
Remote work: hybrid.
Physical requirements:
Must be able to confidently and safely handle equipment weighing up to 40lbs. May be required to stand for extended periods of time.

3D Project Assistant (4-8 Month Coop Term)
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Assist Project Managers and 3D Applications Engineers/Specialists with 3D metrology, 3D modeling and component, assembly or tooling inspection projects for advanced manufacturing needs across a wide range of industries including automotive manufacturing, aerospace, consumer plastics, medical devices and tool & die.
2. Provide assistance with 3D metrology projects involving structured light, high precision 3D scanning, hand-held laser scanning and LiDAR technology.
3. Provide assistance with 3D modeling and inspection involving Design X, Solidworks, PolyWorks Modeler, PolyWorks Inspector and Cyclone Model software platforms.
4. Complete technical market research assignments focused on high precision 3D metrology applications for new product development and quality assurance requirements.
5. Research and report on 3D metrology technology developments including software and hardware technologies.
6. Complete technical market research assignments focused on industrial process and facility digitizing and related Industry 4.0 requirements.
7. Complete technical market research assignments targeting evolving augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) applications for industry driven by the need for remote technical support, enhance employee training programs and expert knowledge capture. Draft application summaries and case relevant case studies.
8. Provide assistance in maintaining and updating ISO 9001 program and continuous improvement initiatives.
Core Qualifications:
· 3rd or 4th year engineering student including mechanical, mechatronics, civil and biomech programs
· 3D CAD experience with one or more CAD/3D Modeling packages such as SolidWorks, NX, Catia, Design X, PolyWorks, Leica Cyclone, Revit
· Enthusiastic, energetic and scientific challenge driven
· Team player with demonstrable business acumen
· Highly safety oriented and able adapt to different work environments
· Able to also work independently and prioritize assignments
· Excellent verbal and written English skills including technical communication skills
· Ability to interact effectively in a professional engineering work environment
· Valid Ontario driving license
